Oh What A Year! [December 2025]
But I was never going to be the same...
Snow already came to Chicago
As I type this, before December arrives, Chicago experienced a day of constant snow. My brother warned me that this winter would have a lot of snow. Today was a taste of what that actually means. Weather like this is a reminder that one should slow down and rest. For me, that’s hard to admit.
After publishing two books, you’d think I would rest. I should. I will at least slow down. I’m a beta reader for a friend’s story that is an exciting epic, and I have some time off to rest at home. However, it doesn’t mean I’ll be idle. I always have a story I want to tell and I’m slowly preparing for when the trilogy is over, but it’s nice to not have anything to hurry on any of these project. So I’ll take my time and enjoy a few more moments to rest.

Book Two of The Injured Tapestry
The current draft of the second book of my trilogy is currently with Beta Readers. Only one I know of has cracked it open and started giving feedback, but it’s early. I’m giving my beta readers until January 31st to finish the book and give me feedback. I’ll keep you all posted on how that shapes up so you know when you’ll receive the next installment of my fantasy series.

Who We Were
While I wait for beta reader feedback, I’m going to slowly start thinking about writing the publishing draft for Who We Were. I also have to figure out how I want to format the PDF pages. I’ll share snippets once they start coming together.

Uru Lore Together Instagram Square
Our latest episode is the start of a two-parter covering the lore of Uru, the Myst MMO game. Yeesha is all grown up she’s now a desert bird, whatever that means. The last stream was fun trying to once again figure out puzzles. Before that we covered The Talos Principle, which is all about Artificial Sentience as the legacy for a doomed humanity. If you love games that bring philosophy to life and also has puzzles, The Talos Principle is an intriguing time.

Sapphy Shares—What I’m digging right now
This holiday season, if you’re going to buy anything, shop small. Shopping small supports your community, including any under-served communities you hope to support. As a Chicagoan, I want to share with you some of the local stores I plan to shop from this year. Read about them below and click on the name to shop at the store:
A queer and black owned business by two friends, I’ve been loving Moody Teas when I see them at my local farmer’s market. They just partnered with the amazing former RuPaul’s Drag Race star Peppermint for a tea called Transcendence. I highly suggest “John’s Big Black Chai” and “Killing It Green”.
This is a go-to for my family that like high-quality skin care and scents. They have a great international selection of new and exciting products priced from surprisingly low to incredibly luxurious. If you’re local, their staff is helpful if you need tips on what to buy for the holidays or for yourself.
We can’t forget the children for this time of year! Timeless Toys is a store that curates their selection to help support a child’s growing mind. Less noise and flashing lights, more thought-provoking and skill-building activities that kids find fun. My son loves what he finds there, from puppets to legos to trains and dolls. There’s something there for every kid.
Happy Solstice!
May this holiday season help you celebrate what made this year great for you. Thank you for taking the time in 2025 to read books and newsletters written by… me. 💜
